Learn to Swing Dance – Free Beginner Workshop for Pride!

Learn how to swing dance with Lindy Hop Auckland!

In this free beginner workshop, you’ll learn the basics of partnered dance: how to connect with a dance partner, classic Lindy Hop moves, and how we groove to swing music together.

In Lindy Hop, dance roles (lead and follow) are not tied to gender. Anyone can dance either role, or both. We welcome people of all genders, backgrounds, and identities.

You don't need any dance experience, and you don't need to bring a partner. We’ll teach you everything from the ground up. We usually rotate partners so everyone gets a chance to dance, and you’re always welcome to opt out or take breaks if you need.

Just wear comfy clothes and shoes you can move in (sneakers are perfect) and we'll take care of the rest.

What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy Hop is a partnered swing dance created by Black communities in 1930s Harlem, New York. Danced to swing music from the 30s and 40s, today Lindy Hop is enjoyed all over the world at social dances, festivals, and in performances.

We’re building a swing dance community that values creativity, freedom of expression, and inclusivity.
Come dance with us and celebrate Pride on the dance floor!
