Pride Whānau Day

This Pride, we’re inviting you to express yourself at the Museum!

Join us on a loud and proud Pride parade. Dive into our dress-ups, learn a chant and take part in a mini-parade in the Museum, led by the silly, sparkly drag-king extraordinaire Hugogrrrl.

To help prepare for the parades (and for quieter types!), we’ll have free craft activities throughout the day – headband making and a collective banner to decorate (and more!) – as well as face-painting and an artist-led workshop for kids aged 8+. We’ll also have a bounty of spot prizes and sweet treats to giveaway throughout the day.

  • 10AM-3PM: Craft activities

  • 10AM- 2PM: Face painting

  • 10AM - 2PM: Tote Bag Workshop

  • 11.30AM & 2PM: Mini-Pride Parades, led by Hugogrrrl

Tote Bag Workshop:

We express ourselves through what we wear every day! Take up some fabric pens and choose from an array of bespoke “Express Yourself” stamps by artist Toni Mosley, and fashion your own unique tote bag (or bring an old t-shirt from home to upcycle!). This workshop will be open to ages 8 – 15. FREE, one tote bag provided per person.

Happy Pride everyone!

Auckland Museum is a safe and inclusive place for all, and we welcome all families to come and celebrate the richness of the society in which we live. We warmly welcome LGBTTQIA+ and takatāpui families, and their allies to a fun-filled day of activities and entertainment.
