This 85 hectares of coastal park extends from Harbour View Road to the North-Western motorway. It has ecologically significant wetlands, regenerating bush and large open grass spaces. The park is home to a number of historic sites, from archaeological features such as middens from early Māori occupation, to historic villas and World War II gun emplacements. Walk along the all-weather path to the south, or the gravel track to the north. Breathe in the salty sea air as you look out over the Waitematā Harbour to Auckland city, the harbour bridge and Rangitoto Island. Specially created wetlands on the lower terrace at Harbourview offer habitat to an abundant wildlife including godwit, the rare and shy fernbird and the kōkopu, a stream fish native to New Zealand. Access the northern car park from Harbour View Road, and the central car park from the round-a-bout at Gloria Avenue and Te Atatū Road. Car park gates are open 7am to 7pm November to April, and 7am to 9pm May to October. Pedestrians can also access from Danica Esplanade and through Danica Reserve, Te Atatū Road, Gunner Drive, Longbush Road, Provence Esplanade and Riverstone Road. Accessible toilets, car parks, seating and picnic tables are inside the park. Follow the Harbourview – Orangihina Path around the eastern edge of Te Atatū Peninsula.
